Merav Shinn Ben-Alon

Merav Shinn Ben-Alon’s residency project will emerge from her ongoing project The Jewish Hospital. The residency will serve as a space for research and the development of new work, further investigating how archival architectural images carry traces of trauma.
Working across photography, drawing, installation, collage, writing, and moving image, her multidisciplinary practice engages with archival materials through acts of cutting, interruption, editing, and reconfiguration. Within this process, her work explores forms of caesura, exposing ruptures and suppressed traces while insisting on the bodily and visual as sites of knowledge.

Merav Shinn Ben-Alon (b: 1965) is an artist and writer working across painting, drawing, installation, artist books, and video. Alongside her visual practice, she has published three artist books: dBook (2015), Five Legs (2020), and VENICE (2023).Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions and venues including the Israel Museum, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Mark Rothko Art Centre, NordArt, and Lewisham Arthouse. She has participated in artist residencies in Germany, Latvia, and France, including Cité internationale des arts.
Shinn Ben-Alon holds a BFA with honors from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and an MFA with honors from the Interdisciplinary Program in the Arts at Tel Aviv University.
